2017 Hantesa Overnight Camp Schedule


Mini Camp (Grades 1-4)                                  Cost: $250

Program Description: Mini Camp is the perfect option for new campers who want to experience resident camp for the first time. During each 4-day, 3-night session, campers will explore Hantesa traditions and participate in the fun activities camp has to offer, including climbing, swimming, drama, sports, games, optional pony rides, and more!

Traditional Camp (Grades 1-12)                       Cost: $480

Wet & Wild: (June 25-July 1) : Join us this week as we embrace water and all of the activities that come with it, including water balloons, slip-and-slides, swimming, canoeing, and much more! 


Summer Camp Mash-Up: (July 9-15) : Search & rescue, astronomy in canoes, musical theater, nature art, and much more! This week we mash-up all of our favorite Hantesa  crafts for a week of new, once in a lifetime experiences and activities!

​Summer Camp Cup: (July 16-22)​: This week we pit cabin against cabin as our two all-camp teams compete for the Hantesa Summer Camp Cup! Compete in all camp games, cleanest cabin, cook-offs, arts and crafts, and more, all for glory points, and prizes!

​WOHA Week: (July 23-29) : We welcome you to Hantesa, we're mighty glad you're here! WoHa week features long-time Hantesa traditions, some dating back to our founding in 1919. Learn camp stories, sing traditional camp songs, and participate in all of the things that make Hantesa special! Come learn about our traditions and make memories (and new traditions) of your own!



Herman's Ranch (Grades 4-12)                       Cost: $550

Program Description: If horses are your passion, then Herman's Ranch is the perfect camp experience. Spend the morning at the barn and the afternoon participating in traditional camp activities. Campers spend each day in English style riding lessons honing riding skills and learning horse science. Campers are assigned horses and instruction with our qualified staff based on riding level. Beginners to advanced riders are welcome!

Outpost Trips (Grades 7-12)

Equestrian Outpost: If you love horses and camping, then this is a trip you won't want to miss! Spend a week trail riding and camping at Bushy Creek Recreation Area with our amazing staff!

Canoe Outpost Trip in Minnesota!: Immerse yourself in the outdoors this week as we glide across the still lakes of Minnesota! Spend a week traveling and camping with our staff all while learning about canoeing and outdoor living!

August 6-12

Backpacking Outpost at Shawnee National Forest: Combine your love of the outdoors, hiking, and camping this week as we travel to Shawnee National Forest and spend a week hiking and camping out on the trail, experiencing the area's unique geography and wildlife.

Teen Leadership (Grades 9-12)

Leadership Challenge/Buckaroo: During this two- week overnight program, campers begin to define themselves as leaders at camp and in life. Activities include team challenges, studying mentoring styles, developing citizenship through service learning, and interacting as role models with younger campers. Buckaroos spend half their time at Herman's ranch and the barn, developing their teaching abilities and horse knowledge, as well as increasing their own riding skills. ​

Outdoor Living Skills Academy:  OLSA is an intensive two-week program where participants will live, sleep, and eat in the outdoors! During the first week, campers will learn from our staff all they need to know for outdoor living through lessons geared to enhance leadership and outdoor living skills. During the second week, campers will take a week-long trip to Minnesota to learn the basics of rock climbing, and practice all of their new camping skills in the field! ​ *Optional Saturday Overnight

Apprentice/Wrangler: The Apprentice and Wrangler program at Camp Hantesa is a service-oriented, four-week program that readies high school students for leadership roles both in and outside of camp. Every Apprenticeship includes a week-long outpost trip, this year backpacking in Shawnee National Forest, and a week-long, live-in experience. The remaining weeks focus on developing leadership, communication, and program delivery skills by observing and assisting our seasonal staff and through formal lessons and activities.

Big Kyds Camp (Ages 21+)  

Program Description: Hantesa Alumni are invited to join us at camp this week to 'keep young dreams' and experience all that Hantesa has to offer! Lounge in the pool, cook-out over a fire, sing songs, visit with old friends, and enjoy a week away from it all, here at camp!


Cost: $480

WOHA Week: July 23-29


Give your child the gift of an unforgettable summer at resident camp.  Choose from Mini Camp, Equestrian Camp, Outpost Trips, Leadership Programs, or Traditional Resident Camp.

Activities include climbing wall, archery, riflery, pottery, canoeing, nature, sports, drama, music, outdoor education, and so much more!

Camp Hantesa Overnight Camp

Financial assistance is available for those families who qualify.  An application can be found under the forms/resources tab.
This form must be submitted to the Camp Fire office with the necessary documentation (found on the application) along with the program registration. Campership assistance is provided on a limited first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed.
