Equestrian Day Camp Fees

2017 Equestrian Day Camp Schedule

Program Description: Each day, campers will spend the morning at the barn and the afternoon swimming at camp. Campers will learn horse science, English riding, and barn maintenance. Each camper will be assigned a horse and will be instructed based on their riding experience. Beginners to advanced riders are welcome! Riding will depend on day to day weather conditions. Staff reserve the right to remove a rider from the horse if either is in danger. Camp Hantesa provides trained horses and staff for all riding programs. **In order to participate, ALL campers are required to wear long pants, boots, and helmets. Helmets are provided by Camp Hantesa. Boots are available on a limited basis**

Welcome Back - School is out and we will start off our summer by exploring all that Hantesa has to offer including water games, sports, arts & crafts, and much more!

Exploration: Space -  This week we will explore the nature of planets, stars, and the universe! Join us as we blast off for new adventures on the final frontier!


June 19-23

SPARTS -This week we mix sports and art for a crazy week of fun unlike anything you’ve ever seen before!

Pirates of the Boone River Valley - Yo ho! Grab your eye patches and parrots this week as we learn about pirates and the 7 Seas!


July 3-7

Holiday Bonanza - Celebrate winter in July, wear your Halloween costume, go on an egg hunt, and learn about other holidays from across the globe! *No Camp on July 4th

July 10-14

Around the World (In 5 Days) - Come and learn about cultures from around the world; play games, learn fun facts, eat food, and more!


July 17-21

Legends of the Ancient World - Join us this week as we explore the myths, legends, and cultures of the ancient world!

July 24-28

Jurassic Camp - Watch out for the T-rex!!! Travel back millions of years this week to learn about dinosaurs and other ancient animals!

The Resident Experience -  Join us for a week of fun in the sun as we try out resident camp crafts, take a trip to the lake, and enjoy a resident camp party night event during the optional overnight!

Superpowered Fun! - Up, up, and away! This week we don our superhero attire to save Camp Hantesa from the clutches of the evil administrative staff!”

Best of the Best: Take a trip back through the summer and revisit all of our favorite camp activities and themes!

The Last Hurrah - This week, those campers lucky enough to still be celebrating summer, will join our counselors in making the most of our last few days of summer!”

Camp Hantesa is located in Boone, Iowa at the north gates of Ledges State Park.  This location provides two day camp opportunities for youth grades 1-12. A morning snack and hot lunch will be provided. Hantesa and Equestrian campers swim each afternoon and also receive swim lessons!

Hantesa Day Camp provides youth with an opportunity to explore the outdoors while participating in the usual camp activities like swimming, games, and crafts.

Equestrian Day Camp offers youth the chance to spend a portion of each day (weather dependent) at our barn learning more about horses and equestrian programming skills.

Hantesa Day Camp Fees

$190/week : Full Price (Des Moines & Ames Drops)
$150/week : Full Price (Boone & Madrid Drops)
$40/night   : Thursday Overnight Fee (optional  add-on)
$20/day      : Pony Ride (optional program add-on)

Financial assistance is available for those families who qualify.  An application can be found under the forms/resources tab.
This form must be submitted to the Camp Fire office with the necessary documentation (found on the application) along with the program registration. Campership assistance is provided on a limited first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed.
