Canwita Day Camp Information & Pricing

Program DescriptionCamp Canwita is located on North Duff in Ames, Iowa.  This secluded day camp provides a wonderful nature setting for youth going into 1st grade through 6th grade offering exciting field trips and active team games throughout the week as well as multiple swimming trips to the local pool. June 4-8: Summer Fun 101 – Kickoff your summer with some fun! This week get those hiking boots ready when we get out of the classroom and back to the great outdoors with a visit to Ledges State Park!

June 11-15: Dirt Detectives – Get ready to learn, explore, and get dirty! We’ll head outside this week with a trip to Saylorville Lake where we will learn about all things nature from a certified naturalist!

June  18-22: Campers vs Counselors – This week will be a showdown of epic proportions! We will have competitions all week to get our competitive juices flowing, all topped off by a trip to an Iowa Cubs Game!

June 25-29: Under the Sea – We got no troubles, Life is the bubbles, Under the sea! This week will be full of underwater adventures and Disney Magic as we celebrate all the awesome things the Wonderful World of Disney has to offer!

July 2-6: Myths & Legends – Merlin’s Beard…this is going to be such a fantastic week! Mythical creatures & fairy tales abound this week as we discover the mysteries all around us with a trip Historical Museum of Iowa!

July 9-13: Inventor’s Workshop – Boom, Pow, Whizz! This week, inventors, get your thinking caps on as we create gadgets and gizmos galore at the Science Center of Iowa!

July 16-20: A Bug’s Life – It’s zoo week…get ready for an epic adventure of miniature proportions! We will discover what the world is like for the wildest among us as we visit the Blank Park Zoo.

July 23-27: British Invasion –The British are coming! Get a sample of English culture this week as we sample food, games, music and all the best that the United Kingdom has to offer.

July 20 – August 3: The Sky’s the Limit – Get ready to go sky high this week! We will head on our annual summer field trip to the best theme park around; Adventureland! We’ll learn what it truly means to defy gravity. (Additional $25 Adventureland Fee)

August 6-10: At the Movies – Welcome to the 2018 Camp Canwita Academy Awards! The glamor of Hollywood comes alive this week as we explore all things cinema, complete with Canwita Walk of Fame, and All-Camp Awards Ceremony!

August 13-17: Anything Goes – Let’s end the summer with a bang! This week will be filled with our favorite summer activities, and we’ll end the summer with a fun-filled trip to an aquatic center!

Discovery Day Camp Information & Pricing

(Grades: 1-6)

Description: At Camp Discovery, campers explore the fun of the great outdoors, science, art, games and more! There are weekly themes designed to enrich young minds all while they have fun swimming, going on field trips and making lasting friendships. Camp Discovery offers a variety of activities for every camper to discover.

June 4-8: Rio Carnival – Join us for our Rio inspired party for the start of summer 2018 with Carnival costumes, a Samba Parade and more!

June 11-15: Journey to the Jungle – Summer is about to get WILD, as we track our favorite animals at the Blank Park Zoo.

June 18-22: Go Cubs Go! – Nothing beats an old fashioned ball game! Get your face paint ready as we take a field trip to Principal Park to cheer on the Cubbies!

June 25-29: Mythbusters: Test your inner skeptic and debunk some of your favorite myths and urban legends. You’ll also be taking an exciting trip to the Science Center of Iowa to put your discovery to the test.

July 2-6: Yankee Doodle Pops – Get your red, white, and blue on as we celebrate the 4th of July this week through games, crafts, and a trip to the skating rink!

July 9-13: Shipwreck Island – Ahoy, matey! Hoist your sails as we frolic in the deep seas and walk the plank to plunder a treasure chest full of fun and games!

July 16-20: Exploration Space – This week we will be out-of-this-world as we take a look into deep space and defy gravity as we head to Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park for our field trip!

July 23-27: Pirate Party – Polly want a cracker…? Grab your eye patches and parrots as we sail the seven seas and make a pit stop at Prairie Ridge Aquatic Center.

July 30 – August 3: Camper vs. Counselors – Time to finally find out who’s the best of the best! Campers and counselors will go head to head to see who can win the most challenges at camp and ride the scariest rides at Adventureland!

August 6-10: Disco Dayzz: All about fun in the sun! Join us for a week of splash pads, cannon balls, and a trip to an aquatic center!

August 13-17: The Last Hurrah! – Enjoy one final big bang and make your mark on Camp Discovery, as they host their 3rd Annual Disco Awards Ceremony!

Outrageous Day Camp Information & Pricing

(Grades: 6-10)

Description: Camp Outrageous offers new experiences and challenges for older campers by making the most of their summer with exciting activities and action-packed days. Campers spend time with experienced staff members swimming, climbing, hiking, and completing ropes courses and team building activities. They also get the opportunity to encounter things such as paintballing, orienteering, archery, canoeing, and so much more.  Get “outrageous” with us, and make it a summer to remember!

Fee: $200/week

June 4-8: Summer Fun 101 – School’s out for SUMMER! Join Camp Outrageous as we get things rolling a trip to ICU Paintball at the end of the week! (Optional Paintball Fee: $30)

June 11-15: Water Wars – Beat the heat with a water balloon fight, ice block races, water games, and a trip to Cascade Falls!

June 18-22: Take Me Out to the Ballgame – Get your game face on as we cheer on the Iowa Cubs and then cross town to take on Canwita in an all camp Kick-ball game!

June 25-29: Kindness Crusaders – Time to give back as we plan a full week of service engagement projects around the Des Moines area. Campers will participate in a variety of goodwill projects and will be able to finish the week at an aquatic center.

July 2-6: Hero’s Journey – How high is too high? Test your limits on the extreme rock wall side at Hantesa, conquering greatness, and being all you can be at Climb Iowa.

July 9-13: Ninja vs. Zombie – Who will prevail in the ultimate summer battle?! Will zombies take over camp? Will the ninjas defend at all costs? … Hone your skills through the week for the ultimate test at ICU Paintball (Optional Paintball Fee: $30)

July 16-20: I Can Canoe, Can You? – Join us for a fun filled water week! With a trip to the lake to canoe, swimming, and a special Outrageous trip to Lost Island Water Park!
(Additional $25 Fee for Lost Island Water Park)

July 23-27: World Explorer – Grab your back pack and an adventurous spirit as we hit the hills of Hantesa, climb our way through the high ropes course, and finish the amazing race at Get Air Tramp Park.

July 30 – August 3: Incredible Adventures – Join us for a week of extreme fun through games, obstacles, and a trip to Adventureland! (Additional $25 Fee for Adventureland)

August 6-10: Sidekick Superheroes – Grab your cape this week as we climb the Leap of Faith to fly and make some Outrageous memories!

August 13-17: The Grand Finale – Join us for our final week of Outrageousness! We’ll recap the best of the best from the summer and finish with our two best field trips, laser tag and paintball!

Program Description: Camp Hantesa is located in Boone, Iowa at the north gates of Ledges State Park.  This location provides two-day camp opportunities for youth grades 1-12. A morning snack and hot lunch will be provided. Hantesa and Equestrian campers swim each afternoon and also receive swim lessons!

Program Description: Camp Hantesa is located in Boone, Iowa at the north gates of Ledges State Park.  This location provides two-day camp opportunities for youth grades 1-12. June 11-15: Natural Wonders – Get outside and explore all the natural wonders that Iowa has to offer as we creek stomp at Ledges State Park!

June 18-22: Sports Extravaganza – Sports, sports, and more sports! This week we explore sports of all sorts; filled with challenges, ice blocking, frisbee golf, and a trip to an Iowa Cubs game!

July 9-12: Ninja vs Zombie – The year is 2050 and we are in a brand new world. Join us for a week of survival training, as we learn to the necessary skills to survive this alternate universe. (Optional $30 Paintball Fee)

July 16-20: Splish Splash Beach Bash – This will be a week full water activities including water balloons, the beach, and a trip to the best waterpark in around: Lost Island Waterpark for an all-day field trip! (Additional $25 Fee)

July 23-27: Game Show Mania – Get ready for great game show showdowns! This week will include Family Feud Trivia, Canwita’s Got Talent, and Wheel of Fortune! Get ready for a game show bonanza!

July 30 – August 3: To the Extreme – It’s Adventureland week! Before we head to our annual field trip, we will push our limits with various challenges, including Leap of Faith at Camp Hantesa that will show us what we are really made of!

August 6-10: Up, Up, and Away –Fly sky high this week when we head to Get Air! A field trip that will be sure to knock your socks off!

August 13-17: Summer Rewind – This week is all about the best of the best. We’ll bring back all our favorite activities from summer for one Outrageous week, including one final epic paintball battle! (Optional $30 Paintball Fee)

Pioneer Columbus Day Camp Information & Pricing

(Grades: 1-8)

Description: Pioneer Columbus Community Day Camp is for children 1st-8th grade primarily on the South and East sides of Des Moines. Located at the Pioneer Columbus Community Center on Hartford and SE 5th, these campers experience a variety of activities around Des Moines including swimming, field trips, and many hours of active games and crafts.  This program also features a literacy program funded by the United Way of Central Iowa that has proven to help youth retain reading skills over the summer.

Eligibility Requirements:
$55/week: Medicaid insurance benefits, SNAP benefits, or eligibility requirements for free lunch
$95/week: Hawk-i insurance benefits or eligibility requirements for reduced price meals
$195/week: Full Price

Special pricing is available based on your family’s eligibility. These fees provide campers with a healthy breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snack, and funds swim passes and most field trips.

If your family qualifies for special pricing, you must submit verification of eligibility.

You will not have a guaranteed spot until Camp Fire has this documentation.

June 4-8: A Whole New World – Every turn a surprise! Join us for the first week of camp as we do crafts, games, and activities that remind us of some of our Disney favorites. Let us share this whole new world with you!

June 11-15: Fantastic Beasts – Whether you are interested in nifflers and bowtruckles, or more common beasts like dogs and cats, this week is for you! You don’t need to be a wizard to learn about the care of creatures, both magical and real, as we learn about animals of all sorts and take a field trip to Blank Park Zoo!

June 18-22: Camp Champs – This will be a week long frenzy of challenges, competition, and camaraderie! Each camper will be an important contributor to the team as we compete against other Camp Fire camps to become Camp Champ. To top it off, we will be taking a trip to Principal Park to cheer on our favorite champs, the Iowa Cubs!

June 25-29: The Tribe Has Spoken – Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. Join us for a week of fun as you try to become the ultimate Survivor. Lead your tribe to victory as you compete in puzzles, obstacles, and challenges. Try not to get voted off the island when we take our field trip to Valley View Aquatic Center!

July 2-6: Red, White, and You! – Join us as we celebrate Independence Day and everything red, white, and blue! We will be doing crafts, games, and activities to get us pumped for the 4th of July!

July 9-13: Love Your #Selfie – Today you are you, that is truer than true. There’s nobody alive who is youer than you! This week we will be learning about ourselves and our impact. Join us for a week of service learning fun, and then “treat yo self” with a trip to Holiday Aquatic Center!

July 16-20: Anything Goes – Anything goes this week at Pioneer Columbus! Forget what you thought you knew about camp, as this week will be flip flopped and turned upside down. Learn how to look at things in new ways this week as we take a trip to explore the Science Center!

July 23-27: Fairy Tales and Pirate Sails – Whether you would rather be a princess or a pirate, this week is for you! We will be focusing on all things magical as we dive into awesome storybook summer activities. To wrap the week up, we will walk the plank at Cascade Falls Aquatic Center

July 30 – August 3: Monster Mayhem – The werewolves will howl, the mummies will mash… come join us for a monster bash! Calling all little monsters to join us for a week of wicked fun. We will be taking a trip to everyone’s favorite place to get wild, Adventureland! Are you brave enough to ride THE MONSTER?

August 6-10: Oh! The Places You’ll Go – You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose! Join us this week as we choose all of our favorite activities from the summer and revisit them. We’ll also spend the week visiting new places and some of our old favorites as we go on field trips near and far!

Riverview Day Camp Information & Pricing

(Grades: 1-8)

Description: Riverview Day Camp is available to youth and families who live on the north and east side of Des Moines.  New in 2013, this day camp exploded in popularity providing youth with our popular field trips and activities as well as our proven literacy program.  These campers will experience a variety of activities and field trips throughout the summer including swimming throughout the week, fun field trips, and many active games and crafts.

Drop Sites and Times:

Madison Elementary School (806 Hoffman Ave, Des Moines)
Drop off: 7:00-9:00am       Pick up: 4:00-5:30pm

Four Mile Community Center (3711 Easton Blvd, Des Moines)
Drop off: 7:00-8:30am       Pick up: 4:30-5:30pm

Eligibility Requirements:
$55/week: Medicaid insurance benefits, SNAP benefits, or eligibility requirements for free lunch
$95/week: Hawk-i insurance benefits or eligibility requirements for reduced price meals
$195/week: Full Price

Special pricing is available based on your family’s eligibility. These fees provide campers with a healthy breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snack, and funds swim passes and most field trips.

If your family qualifies for special pricing, you must submit verification of eligibility.

 2018 Themes & Descriptions

June 4-8: Beach You To It – Splish splash, get ready for a beach bash! Jump into summer with a week of classic camp games, arts and crafts, and a trip to the lake.

June 11-15: Jumanji – Welcome to the jungle! Join us for an exciting week as we face the wild and try to beat the game. We will be taking a trip to the Blank Park Zoo, where we will learn about facing wild creatures. You don’t just play Jumanji… you have to survive it!

June 18-22: Camp Champs – This will be a week long frenzy of challenges, competition, and camaraderie! Each camper will be an important contributor to the team as we compete against other Camp Fire camps to become Camp Champ! To top it off, we will be taking a trip to Principal Park to cheer on our favorite champs, the Iowa Cubs!

June 25-29: Escape from Azkaban – Calling all wizards! There has been a mass prisoner escape from Azkaban, and Harry Potter needs all the help he can get. Spend the week using your wizarding skills to help Dumbledore’s Army figure out who escaped and how to stop them. Watch out for dementors and have your wand at the ready!

July 2-6: Snap, Crackle, Pop! – Celebrate the 4th of July with fun, friends, and fireworks! This week will spark your interest as we do experiments and crafts that snap, crackle, and pop. Everything this week will be holiday focused and in celebration of our country!

July 9-13: X Marks the Spot – Grab your treasure map! This week we will be building pirate ships, searching for hidden treasure, and tackling the waves at Holiday Aquatic Center. Try not to walk the plank!

July 16-20: How It’s Made – Take a sneak peek at the science behind how everyday things are made! We will be this focused on science and engineering as we learn about how products are made and create some of our own. To top it off, we will be taking a trip to the Science Center of Iowa!

July 23-27: Take the Lead – This week will be all about leadership and service learning. Campers will be paying it forward with a variety of community service projects and then finish finish the week strong with a trip to
Valley View Aquatic Center.

July 30-August 3: Space is the Place – 3…2…1… Blast off! Join us as we take on the Space Shot and much more at Adventureland. It’s sure to be some out of this world fun!

July 6-10: Explore S’More – We will be finishing the summer strong with some of our best camp activities! Join us as we wrap the summer up with our all time favorite games, crafts, and field trips.
