Adult Involvement

With our focus on youth, there are many pieces Camp Fire cannot accomplish without our Adult teams. Whether you’re interested in being on summer staff, want to lead a club of youth, volunteer for an event, or do a service project, you can find opportunities here.

Are you ready for the best summer of your life? Being apart of the Camp Fire team will be an experience that you will never forget. Weather you want to help campers learn how to canoe, make friendship bracelets, or even shoot a slingshot…there are many ways that summer camp staff enhance the lives of youth everyday. Please consider joining our team at either the Des Moines or Ames Day Camps or Camp Hantesa, and get ready to set off on your next adventure! Please click down below for more information.

Clubs run from September through May for youth 4 to 18 years old. With a curriculum for every group level, Camp Fire Clubs offer age appropriate experiences for all members. Club Leaders are adult group leaders who follow a curriculum, guiding youth members through a year of activities teaching them life and outdoor skills and providing opportunities for youth to grow. Being a club leader is a lot of work, but comes with great rewards. This is a volunteer position and there is an application process. If you’re interested in leading our future leaders, apply with us today to be a Camp Fire Club Leader!

At Camp Fire we couldn’t function without the help of many volunteers. Throughout the year, our need for volunteers varies in degree, depending on what events we have going on. We are always searching for volunteers to help with projects at both Camp Hantesa and the Des Moines Service Center. If you are interested in donating your time, please contact us at 515-274-1501 or get more information below.

Join us at Camp Hantesa on April 7th for an exciting day creating our outdoor classroom. We have a list of projects to complete and need your help. There will be lunch provided. Please fill out the form (please follow the link below) to RSVP and let us know what projects you are interested in helping us complete. We ask that you fill out one form per person attending.

Do you have a service project you are trying to complete or a day at work were you get to volunteer? Throughout the year, we have many work groups and service groups come to Camp Fire to complete their tasks. Weather it be the United Way’s Day of Action or a local school group looking for a place to complete their service project, we always open to new work groups and new ideas that will further benefit the beauty of our camp and lives of our campers.
