Canwita Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 1-6

Program Description: Camp Canwita is located on North Duff in Ames, Iowa.  This secluded day camp provides a wonderful natural setting for youth going into 1st grade through 6th grade offering exciting field trips and active team games throughout the week as well as multiple swimming trips to the local pool. June 3-7: Spark Your Summer Let’s ‘spark’ the summer off right by exploring all that Canwita has to offer and cheering on the Iowa Cubbies!

June 10-14: Slime & Grime Pull your sleeves up and get ready for a week of fun as we worm, squirm, and slime our way through this week’s activities; all the way to the Science Center of Iowa!

June 17-21: Creek Stompers Get ready to roll up your pant legs and grab your muck boots, as we stomp through Ledges State Park trying to catch all the bugs we can find!

June 24-28: Zookeepers What animal is that? What does it eat? Giraffes, penguins, and pandas; do you love them all? Let’s take an exciting trip to the Blank Park Zoo to explore all that we can about some of the greatest animals on the planet.

July 1-5: A Whole New World – Who’s ready to explore all the world, or Iowa, has to offer? Join us for a week of expanding our horizons and trying new things, while capping off a great week at the roller rink! *No camp on July 4

July 8-12: Blue Lagoon –  Dive into this fun filled week as we pack in all of our favorite water activities. We will top the week off with a trip to an aquatic center!

July 15-19: Natural Wonders –  Grab your backpack, fill your water bottle, and join us as we hit the trails and explore all the natural wonders the state of Iowa has to offer, with trips to Big Creek and Ledges State Park to name a few!

July 22-26: Game Show Mania – Is the Price Right? Would you like to buy a vowel? Let’s make a deal and join us for an exciting week of games!

July 29 – August 2: Avengers AssembleAll of Canwita’s heroes must come together and learn to work as a team as they try to get the best of The Monster at Adventureland! *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland trip

August 5-9: Roll Out the Red Carpet –  Hone your talents and strut your stuff as we roll out the red carpet for Canwita’s annual talent show! Finish out the week with a trip to a matinee.

August 12-16: The Grand Finale –  Join us for our final week of awesomeness! We’ll relive the best of the best from all the summer fun we’ve had!

Equestrian Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 4-10

Program Description: Join us for a week at the barn! Each day, campers will spend the morning at the barn and the afternoon swimming at camp! Campers learn horse science, English riding, and basic barn management/maintenance! Beginners to advanced riders welcome. Riding will depend on day-to-day weather conditions.

Cost:

Program Description: At Camp Discovery, campers explore the fun of the great outdoors, science, art, games and more! There are weekly themes designed to enrich young minds all while they have fun swimming, going on field trips and making lasting friendships. Camp Discovery offers a variety of activities for every camper to discover.

June 3-7: Disco All Stars Hey now, you’re an All Star… Disco All Star that is! Kick off the beginning of summer by joining us at camp and cheering on the All Stars of the Iowa Cubs!

June 10-14: Waikiki Wipeout Alooo-ha! We’re cooling off this week by taking a trip to Valley View Aquatic Center. Grab your swimsuits and sunscreen because we’ll be having some fun in the sun!

June 17-21: Blast from the Past We’re throwing it back this week by enjoying games and activities that used to be all the rage while dressing in your favorite styles from different decades! We’ll also be taking a trip to Hop-A-Lot that you won’t want to miss!

June 24-28: To Infinity & Beyond It’s all about space and science this week when we head to the Science Center of Iowa! The limit on the amount of fun we’ll have is to infinity and beyond!

July 1-5: You’re a Grand Old Flag – Happy Fourth of July Week! Enjoy some All-American fun including games, arts and crafts, and a trip golfing (glow golfing that is)! *No camp on July 4

July 8-12: Jurassic Camp –  Stegosauruses, Velociraptors, and T-Rexs, oh my! Keep an eye out for what creatures you’ll see when we visit the Blank Park Zoo.

July 15-19: Lights, Camera, Action! –  It’s all about Hollywood and glamour this week! Enjoy a walk on the red carpet as we do crafts, games, and trivia about our favorite movies. Top it off with a trip to see the new live-action Lion King in theaters!

July 22-26: Sleuths, Spies, & Private I’s – Do you think you have what it takes to be sneaky like a spy? Come investigate camp this week to see what you can find as we take a trip to Ledges and uncover a mystery!

July 29 – August 2: Disco Olympics 2019Test your abilities this week as we head to the Disco Olympics of 2019! Compete in your favorite sports and see if you have what it takes to ride the Monster when we go to Adventureland. *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland trip

August 5-9: Mischief Managed – Accio wizards! Come test your magical abilities and participate in your favorite Hogwarts courses as we zoom over to Skate North this week!

August 12-16: That’s a Wrap – Come celebrate the end of summer at Camp Discovery by participating in our favorite games and activities from throughout the summer including a trip to an aquatic center. Who wants to go to Cascade Falls?!

Hantesa Outrageous Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 5-10

Program Description: Hantesa Outrageous offers new and exciting experiences for our older day campers. Campers will spend time with awesome staff members doing “camp stuff” like swimming, orienteering, archery, hiking, and canoeing. They’ll also have opportunities to challenge themselves through team building activities, rock climbing, and completing ropes courses. We also will have the chance to go on several field trips. We’re so excited for all that’s ahead of us at Hantesa Outrageous this summer!

June 3-7: Welcome Back! School is out and we will start off our summer by exploring all that Hantesa has to offer including water games, sports, arts and crafts, and even a picnic trip to Ledges State Park.

June 10-14: High Adventure Reach new heights this week as we climb the rock walls at Hantesa and Iowa State University, challenge ourselves on the ropes course, and have many more adventures! *Optional Pony Ride ($20)

June 17-21: Nature Unleashed Explore the world around you! Learn about nature at camp, and then use what you’ve learned to help in a scavenger hunt at the Iowa Arboretum! *Optional Thursday Overnight ($40)

June 24-28: Hydro-lympics Spend the week competing with fellow campers in wild water games. We will go canoeing at Don Williams Lake, and take a trip to the Ames Community Pool. *Optional Pony Ride ($20)

July 1-5: Adventures in Art – Spend the week delving into the arts. Make lummi sticks, do some pottery, and take a class from local artists.

July 8-12: Survivor: Hantesa Edition –  Learn all about surviving outside while also competing against the other team. Outdoor cooking, orienteering, and an optional overnight camping expedition await you on Hantesa Island! *Optional Thursday Overnight ($40)

July 15-19: Pack Your Bags! –  It’s all about travel this week! Learn about cultures from around the world; cool new sports, arts, food and more await you at camp, along with taking a trip to track down some local geocaches! *Optional Pony Ride ($20)

July 22-26: Extreme Sports – Spend the week playing all sorts of sports and games. Each classic game will have an extreme twist. We’ll even explore some local parks to play disc golf! *Optional Thursday Overnight ($40)

July 29 – August 2: Reality TV: Camp StylePropose a crazy idea to the “sharks,” create a new runway masterpiece, or invent a mind blowing dish… All with a camp spin! This week we’ll also learn from the pros and take a cooking class! *Optional Pony Ride ($20)

August 5-9: Mash-Up –  Search and rescue, nature art, sparts (sports and art)  and much more! This week we mash-up all of our favorite Hantesa crafts for a week of new, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and activities! *Optional Thursday Overnight ($40)

August 12-16: Explore Iowa –  Each day this week, campers will take a trip to one of Iowa’s parks or historic landmarks to discover what makes Iowa unique! *Optional Pony Ride ($20)

August 19-23: See You Next Summer! –  You’re the boss this week! Choose from archery, riflery, slingshots, arts and crafts, swimming, rock climbing, and more! This week we’ll also go on a canoe day trip down the Des Moines River. *Optional Thursday Overnight ($40)

Riverview Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 1-8

Program Description: Riverview Day Camp is available to youth and families who live on the north and east side of Des Moines. These campers will experience a variety of activities throughout the summer including swimming throughout the week, fun field trips, and many active games and crafts.

Cost & Eligibility Requirements:
$60/week: Free Lunch
$95/week: Reduced Lunch
$190/week: Full Price

Special pricing is available based on your family’s eligibility. These fees provide campers with a healthy breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snack, and funds swim passes and most field trips.

If your family qualifies for special pricing, you must submit verification of eligibility.

You will not have a guaranteed spot until Camp Fire has this documentation

June 10-14: Splash Bash Splish splash, we’re having a bash! Jump into this week and experience all things water. Then, dive in at one of our favorite aquatic centers, Holiday Pool!

June 17-21: Summer Fun 101 This week is all about the basics of having fun! Join us for crafts, games, and a trip to play Glow Golf!

June 24-28: Hakuna Matata It means no worries! Learn about all things wild as we take a trip to the Blank Park Zoo and embrace the worry free life.

July 1-5: Red, White, and Riverview – Join us this week as we celebrate our country and our camp! We will be doing crafts, games, and activities that get us pumped up for the 4th of July! *No camp on July 4

July 8-12: CSI: Camp Scene Investigation –  Do you have what it takes to solve the case? This week will be all about collecting evidence and solving mysteries. Join us on a trip to the Science Center of Iowa to learn what goes into being an investigator!

July 15-19: Dynomite Decades –  Join us for a journey through the ages! Roll into this week with a trip to Skate South and enjoy some of our favorite timeless activities.

July 22-26: Shark Tank – Take a bite out of the competition this week! Design a product, learn all about marketing your idea, and then pitch it at the end of the week to see if you can get the counselors to bite. Then, wrap the week up with a trip to Cascade Falls!

July 29 – August 2: Double DareAre you brave enough to ride the Monster or the Space Shot? I double dare you! Join us for a week of extreme fun and a trip to Adventureland! *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland Trip

August 5-9: Road Rules –  Join us this week as we revisit all of our favorite activities from the summer. We’ll also spend the week visiting new places, and some of our old favorites, as we go on road trips near and far!

Canwita Outrageous Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 6-10

Program Description: Canwita Outrageous offers new experiences and challenges for older campers by making the most of their summer with exciting activities and action packed days. Campers spend time with experienced staff members swimming, climbing, hiking, and completing ropes courses and team building activities. They also get the opportunity to encounter things such as paintballing, orienteering, archery, canoeing, and so much more.  Get “outrageous” with us, and make it a summer to remember!

July 1-5: Frozen Summer – Join us as we find ways to beat the heat! Water games, ice blocking and a trip to one of our favorite aquatic centers, Valley View Aquatic Center! *No camp July 4

July 8-12: Outrageous Throwdown –  Get ready to push it to the limit! Join us for this exciting week of Capture the Flag, kickball, and paintball! *Additional $30 fee for paintball trip

July 15-19: Canwita Castaways –  Calling all castaways! Get ready to explore all the mysteries surrounding our deserted island paradise as we make a trip to Lost Island Waterpark! *Additional $25 fee for Lost Island trip

July 22-26: World Explorers – Who’s ready to get outside and explore?! This week we’ll take on local trails, parks, and Hantesa’s climbing tower!

July 29 – August 2: The Infinity Gauntlet – The capabilities of Canwita seem limitless…can you survive riding the most gut-wrenching rides Adventureland has to offer?! *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland trip

August 5-9: Around the World in 5 Days –  Come along and learn about cultures from around the world, while we visit new places and meet new people!

August 12-16: The Big Sha-Bang –  Let’s end the summer with a bang! This week will be filled with our favorite summer activities, topped off with another great trip to ICU Paintball! *Additional $30 fee for paintball trip

Pioneer Columbus Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 1-8

Program Description: Pioneer Columbus Community Day Camp is for children 1st-8th grade primarily on the South and East sides of Des Moines. Located at the Pioneer Columbus Community Center on Hartford and SE 5th, these campers experience a variety of activities around Des Moines including swimming, field trips, and many hours of active games and crafts.  This program also features a literacy program funded by the United Way of Central Iowa that has proven to help youth retain reading skills over the summer.

Cost & Eligibility Requirements:
$60/week: Free Lunch
$95/week: Reduced Lunch
$190/week: Full Price

July 1-5: Red, White, and Boom! – Celebrate the 4th of July with fun, friends, and fireworks! This week will be full of fun games, activities, and experiments that go boom! *No camp on July 4

July 8-12: Water Wipeout –  This week is all about fun in the sun! Beat the heat with water games, trips to the pool, and a visit to Holiday Aquatic Center!

July 15-19: Grossology –  From gak to goo… this week will be about all things gross! Explore the gross side of science and take a trip to the Science Center of Iowa.

July 22-26: Super Splash Brothers – We will splash into this week with a trip to Cascade Falls, water balloon battles, a giant slip and slide, and water games that are sure to get you super soaked!

July 29 – August 2: Lost In Space3…2…1… Blast Off! Join us as we take on the Space Shot and much more at Adventureland. It’s sure to be some out of this world fun! *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland trip

August 5-9: Into the Wild –  Join us as we explore the wild world around us! We will spend our last week hiking through the woods, playing at local beaches, and creek stomping at Ledges State Park.

Des Moines Outrageous Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 6-10

Program Description: Camp Outrageous offers new experiences and challenges for older campers by making the most of their summer with exciting activities and action-packed days. Campers spend time with experienced staff members swimming, climbing, hiking, and completing ropes courses and team building activities. They also get the opportunity to encounter things such as paintballing, orienteering, archery, canoeing, and so much more.  Get “outrageous” with us, and make it a summer to remember!

June 10-14: Quills, Quaffles, & Quidditch Muggles and wizards alike, all are welcome! Use your wizarding skills to give yourself an advantage as we test our riflery, archery, and slingshot skills all before our trip to ICU paintball! *Additional $30 fee for paintball trip

June 17-21: Happy Holidays! Snow, trick or treating, and valentines in the summer? Something seems off, but we don’t care as we celebrate a different holiday every day this week! We’ll also be heading to Great Escape for laser tag.

June 24-28: Pay It Forward We’re giving back! Join us at camp this week to give back to the community by volunteering with different partnerships throughout the community and end the week with a trip to the movies.

July 1-5: S’more What? – S’more camp! This week we’ll be spending the 4th of July cooling off. Join us while we go ice blocking and take a trip to Cascade Falls! *No camp July 4

July 8-12: Apocalypse Now –  It’s the end of the world as we know it! Test your abilities and aim while we do archery and riflery before ending our week with a trip to ICU paintball! *Additional $30 fee for paintball trip

July 15-19: Ka Wai Wai –  Ka Wai Wai in Hawaiian means “Water Week”, which is what we’re all about this week at Camp Outrageous! Join us for canoeing at the lake and a trip to Lost Island Waterpark. *Additional $25 fee for Lost Island trip

July 22-26: Avengers Assemble – Calling all superheroes! Test out your super powers while we visit the Science Center of Iowa.

July 29 – August 2: Fear Factor – Do you think you have what it takes? Test your fears this week at Adventureland! Conquer the Spaceshot, the Dragon, and of course… the Monster! *Additional $25 fee for Adventureland trip

August 5-9: Up, Up, & Away –  We’re going up, up, and away this week! See how far up you can go when we head to Climb Iowa.

August 12-16: Throwin’ It Back –  #TBT, is all week this week! Experience all that the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s had to offer while we end the summer by recapping some of our favorite activities, which of course means…paintball! *Additional $30 fee for paintball trip

Hantesa Day Camp Information & Pricing

Grades: 1-8

Program Description: Hantesa Day Camp gives your child the chance to create their own unique summer experience! Unlike other programs, Hantesa Day Camp does not assign themes because Hantesa campers choose their own activities every week—whether they are interested in art, sports, or outdoor pursuits – we have something for everyone! Campers attend their chosen crafts every morning for the week and swim every afternoon! Each week includes transportation from one of our drop sites, a hot lunch, a morning and afternoon snack, and weekly swim lessons. Give your child the opportunity to find their spark, make their own schedule, and make new friends along the way!

Crafts to choose from include: Archery, Outdoor Living, Paddle Sports, Swimming, Drama, Hand Arts, Rock Climbing, Lapidary, Music, Ecology, Photography, Slingshots, Sports & Games, Orienteering, and much more!
