Day Camp Counselor

JOB SUMMARY: The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision and delivery of effective programming to day campers in an outdoor environment. Primary responsibilities include supervision and behavior management of day campers, facilitation of program activities, and timely and effective communication between supervisors, staff, campers, and families. Qualified applicants must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with campers and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Literacy Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: The Literacy Specialist is responsible for the supervision and delivery of effective literacy programming to day campers in an outdoor environment. Primary responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating camper-focused literacy activities that will help youth retain skills throughout the summer. This individual will also be expected to fulfill all duties outlined in the Day Camp Counselor job description. Qualified applicants must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with campers and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Program Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining a supportive and stimulating summer camp culture while adhering to Camp Fire Heart of Iowa’s policies and protocols. This position will oversee three of Camp Fire’s Des Moines day camp programs and will be responsible for supervising program staff at each location. This individual will assist in planning and facilitating staff orientation, offering guidance and support around facilitation of activities, fulfilling required administrative work, communicating with and supporting families, and providing direct care for youth when necessary. This individual must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with campers and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required. *Obtaining a Class B CDL Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement is a requirement of this position. Camp Fire will provide all necessary training and resources to obtain this certification.

STEM Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Specialist is responsible for the delivery of effective programming to day campers participating in Camp Fire Day Camp. Primary responsibilities include developing and coordinating camper-focused STEM programming and fostering an appreciation and interest in sciences. This individual will also be expected to fulfill all duties outlined in the Day Camp Counselor Job Description. Qualified applications must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with youth and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Team Lead

JOB SUMMARY: The Team Lead is responsible for the administration and programming of the Day Camp Program. This position oversees the Day Camp Counselors on site and communicates closely with parents and families. The Team Lead is responsible for all of the programming for campers, and must have all activities and supplies prepared ahead of camper arrival. This individual must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, open to working with campers and staff of any background, comfortable leading small and large groups of people, and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Bus Driver

JOB SUMMARY: The Bus Driver will transport day campers and staff by bus on any required trips during the program day. This position will also be responsible for performing a daily pre-check of the bus, recording pertinent information in maintenance logs, confirming that the vehicle has adequate fuel prior to any trip, and ensuring that all passengers are following Camp Fire’s safety policies. Ability to obtain a Class B CDL Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement is a requirement of this position. Camp Fire will provide all necessary training and resources to obtain this certification. This individual will also be expected to fulfill all duties outlined in the Day Camp Counselor Job Description. JOB SUMMARY: Customer service/clerical position that serves the staff and clients of Camp Fire Heart of Iowa during the organization’s busiest time of year.

Camp Hantesa (Boone, IA)

Camp Hantesa has been a part of the Boone community for more than a century. Camp Hantesa hosts hundreds of campers from across central Iowa every summer in day and overnight camps. Camp Hantesa provides a traditional summer camp experience with archery, outdoor living, rock climbing, creative arts, sports and games, canoeing, and daily swimming.
